Design and styling

The Skoda Octavia RS boasts of its newly styled exterior and premium look. The car features an aggressive looking front fascia with a glossy black radiator grille outlined by chrome and the redesigned LED headlamps cluster in a crystalline structure. It also features a DRLs (daytime running LEDs) and the AFS adaptive front light system as common elements.

The front of the car looks impressive with a sculpted bumper featuring three broad honeycomb air inlets. The fog lamps and number plate illumination also feature LED technology. The side profile looks similar to the Skoda’s other models, while the rear end offers a large bumper with a black diffuser and tail lamps feature LED lights. The radiator grille and the tailgate sport ‘RS’ logo. The car sports the 17-inch ‘Hawk Anthracite’ alloy wheels, whereas, option for the 18-inch or the 19-inch wheels is also available. The new model looks sporty inside with a predominantly black interior and high-quality material. The LED technology used to lighten the interior offers an overwhelming ambience inside the car. It comes with a 3-spoke steering wheel featuring Bluetooth for voice commands. The seats are wrapped in Alcantara leather, which adds to the sportiness inside. The car offers a spacious cabin with comfortable legroom and headroom for the occupants. The dashboard features a 9.2-inch infotainment system equipped with advanced technologies to assist simpler driving experience. As far as the safety features are concerned, the car offers Crew Protect Assist, Blind Spot Detector, Rear Traffic Alert, airbags, ABS and reverse parking camera.

Sports chassis and limited-slip differential

The India-bound model features a sports chassis, which lowers the body of the car by 15 mm and provides it with a sleeker look for heavy-duty performance. Before the Octavia RS, no previous model with the Octavia nameplate featured the sports chassis. The DSG (direct-shift gearbox) offers a Sports mode and also includes electronically regulated XDS and the limited-slip differential. The system transmits more torque to the outer wheels by braking the inner wheels at corners for better cornering. The Dynamic Chassis Control system offers three driving modes – Normal, Sport and Comfort. During high-speed driving, the variable ratio steering enables a sportier control, which changes to the comfort control at the time of parking the car.

Powerful engine mechanism

Under the hood, Skoda has offered a powerful engine mechanism which makes the car a high-performance machine. Mechanically, the car is equipped with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine, which produces a maximum power output of 230 bhp and a peak torque of 350 Nm. This high power output is transmitted to the front wheels by the DSG automatic gearbox to generate the peak speed of 250 kmph, which makes it the fastest car from the Skoda’s portfolio. It offers a fuel-efficiency of 14.45 kmpl.
